description

State Establishment “Lugansk State Medical University” ( hereafter – LSMU) was originally founded in 1956 in the city of Lugansk, Ukraine. The mission of Luhansk State Medical University is to prepare highly qualified specialists in the medical field, conduct scientific research aimed at solving health problems, and provide continuous professional development for healthcare professionals. The university is committed to training medical personnel who are capable of responding to the evolving needs of both the national and global healthcare systems, with an emphasis on practical skills, scientific knowledge, and innovative medical approaches. The State Establishment “Lugansk State Medical University” is a twice relocated university. In 2014, due to the occupation of Luhansk, the university was forced to move its activities to the city of Rubizhne. The full-scale Russian invasion in 2022 made it impossible for the university to operate in Rubizhne. Events developed so rapidly that only students and staff were evacuated. The university's property remained in the occupied territory or was destroyed. Since March 26, 2022, LSMU has been operating in Rivne, at 36, 16 Lypnia Street. Currently, the university has 867 students and 268 employees, including 178 and 116 IDPs, respectively. LSMU has a strong focus on international collaboration. It has developed partnerships with universities and healthcare institutions worldwide to enhance its educational and research capabilities. The university participates in various international medical conferences, academic exchanges, and research programs to maintain high standards of medical education. In addition, LSMU actively engages in international project activities, particularly in the fields of medical science and health systems development. This includes cooperation with international organizations for student exchange programs, joint research projects, and collaboration on health-related initiatives that aim to improve public health and medical services globally. The university’s international activities help its students gain exposure to diverse medical practices and healthcare systems, enriching their education and preparing them for careers in a globalized healthcare environment.
