Our institution is the special education center Silas. We are located in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. We educate students from 7 till 21 years old. All our students have special educational needs and all students have an intellectual disability. Our students have mild, moderate, marked and very marked intellectual disability. We have 20 sets of classes: 4 elementary education classes, 16 basic education classes and 4 social skills education classes. Students are educated according to individualized programs. Services provided in the center: catering service, transportation service, informal education, summer camp service. The center employs a psychologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and other specialists. Students are taught according to the thematic integrated education model.

The teachers of our center implement various educational projects on a city and country scale. We organize various educational camps for children and young people with disabilities. We participate in various projects as partners. We pay a lot of attention to the development of students' independence. Students are taught using the attention autism method. Students are educated using non-traditional educational methods. We organize additional educational activities outside the center. Every week, our students go on various educational trips. The educational process is organized in non-traditional urban spaces. We organize many activities outdoors. We have established educational spaces for learning in the territory of the educational center. Teachers organize activities by the river, in the forest, we go to the city's botanical gardens. We pay a lot of attention to the preparation for such activities (we create social stories.) We organize the education of students in mobile camps by the sea. An information and communication technology teacher teaches children how to use simple various apps. We have art classes, craft classes, during which various works related to our culture are created. We promote traditional holidays for which the whole community prepares. Students, with the help of adults, make various decorations, create, play and otherwise contribute to the cultivation of traditions.
