Anykščiai distr. Troškūnai Kazys Inčiūra gymnasium is a state educational organization located in the smallest town in Lithuania, in Troškūnai. Initially, the school was established as a secondary school in 1961. Later in 2014, the secondary school was reorganized into a gymnasium. It ensures the general education for 198 students, organized in 12 classes for each grade from 1st to 12th, and for 16 preschool pupils. Also, the school is responsible for the education of three preschool units of Troškūnai and neighboring villages in a geographical area with a 10-15km radius. Most of them continue to study in the Troškūnai gymnasium.
According to approved training programs students are studying the Lithuanian mother tongue, mathematics, IT, the Natural Sciences, Foreign languages, the Social Sciences as well as music, art, drama and Theater art, technology, and physical education.
The education is provided by 30 teachers and student-support specialists (social pedagogue, speech therapist, and psychologist) implying equal opportunities for studying for pupils with special educational needs. It is reasonable to say that Troškūnai Gymnasium supports innovative content methods for teaching students and staff.
Classrooms apply smartboards that make education more effective and productive in interactive content ( 3D scenes, educational videos) for all subjects and ages. We encourage students to participate and support their participation in the various scientific, cultural-social, and sporting
environments.
Experience in the implementation of educational projects aimed at young people
One of the goals of the Troškūnai Kazys Inčiūra gymnasium is to seek the participation of students in social activities by creating and improving educational and recreation spaces, thereby stimulating students' interest in the subject being taught. The students have been participating in various projects involving observing and caring for nature. Annually students participate in environmental activities and projects:
GLOBE – an international science and educational program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and scientific processes and contribute to understanding the Earth system and
global environment. The Baltic Sea project - an international network among UNESCO ASP net schools for a better environment in the Baltic catchment area sharing environmental problems and pollution of the Baltic Sea.
„Green week“ - CLIL training; micro bit programming and 3D layout; experiential/nature learning
"Plastic Pirates" - students participated in a citizen science project called "Plastic Pirates" studying and analyzing the water quality of urban and rural rivers, looking for microplastics.
“ Birds Over European Skies”- an international project to foster ornithological education among students and teachers creating a visual material, a bird atlas of different bird species found in 8 different points of the continent. The project‘s team consists of two teachers, a Biology teacher and an English one. Teachers involved in this project have had project management experience participating in European projects and are determined to improve their skills and knowledge of certain areas of the project. They are open to cooperation with partners from other countries working on the
project.
