description
Association of Community Initiatives Support ?ASSA? is a Kharkiv region non-profit non-governmental organization whose goal is to build, develop and strengthen civil society governed by the rule of law in Ukraine.
As part of ASSA's overall vision of peacebuilding in the region, its projects teach local audience including young community leaders on advocacy campaigns, civic participation, and community cohesion methods. The organization disseminates knowledge about media safety, increases the level of media literacy and critical thinking among opinion leaders, officials, public figures, volunteers, teachers, and justice workers. The Association ?ASSA? conducts advocacy and informational media campaigns itself, in particular an anti-corruption campaign. Our NGO has also an experience in training young leaders to use mobile journalism (MoJo) tools using Thomson Media technology to create visual content that people can use to more effectively influence social change in their communities.
We, at ASSA, believe that education, particularly civil education, is the key to cohesive society, creating peaceful, fair and corruption-free communities in Eastern Ukraine.
Experience in the implementation of educational projects aimed at young people
Almost all projects developed and implemented by the Association "ASSA" had an educational component. In particular, being a regional partner of the Educational Society for Malopolska (MTO) from Nowy Sacz, Poland our organization has successfully completed the following

- ?Dura Lex, Sed Lex? that made it possible to introduce the ?Practical Law? program into Ukrainian schools;
- ?Active Youth are Ukraine?s Future? provided youth in Kharkiv and 5 nearby villages with consultations, information, trainings and materials for youth seeking work or/and educational opportunities;
- ?Solidarity: Passport to Democracy? which promoted Poland in Ukraine.
