description

Šeim? bendryst?" is an association that founded the "T?km?" school in 2014. "T?kme School is a non-state educational institution in the region (about 75 km from the capital Vilnius), which teaches children from kindergarten to elementary school (kindergarten, elementary and primary school). The school model is based on the Finnish school model, which believes in the innate human desire to learn and grow, and the notion that the time spent in school is not a "preparation" for life, but a life that can be varied and transformative, but always full of real experiences, feelings and experiences. "We only want to give our children two gifts - roots and wings." (DaLai Lama). In this phrase we really find ourselves and what is important in our community. For us, roots are the connection between people, family, nature, our country's history, culture and traditions. We want our children to grow up with a sense of community and harmony with nature. When we think of wings, we realize that we are not preparing our children for exams, not even for life, but for the great uncertainty of a future that none of us can even imagine today. We believe that for our children to be able to accept this uncertainty, the most important things they really need to learn are self-knowledge, creativity and the ability to manage their learning. And the result of all this is a person who is able to successfully meet all the challenges of his or her life without losing their "I" and their identity. This is the foundation from which we build T?km? School. We currently have 30 teachers and 96 pupils. Although we are a non-governmental organization educational institution, the socio-economic context of our children is diverse. We have a wide range of pupils with special educational needs, as well as children from foster care institutions. The fact that we are a non-state educational institution gives us more autonomy, and as a result we are more open to innovation and educational innovation. We are a continuous learning school that focuses not only on the learning of the whole team, but also on the deep learning of the school reflection on existing processes, but also on the improvement of existing processes. We are like a laboratory of pedagogical activity, which uses its insights and experience to share with others.

Experience in the implementation of educational projects aimed at young people

T?km? school actively seeks opportunities for international collaboration to enhance our educational offerings and foster a global perspective among our students. While we haven?t yet implemented any formal projects with international partners, we have a history of hosting volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps, providing a valuable exchange of cultural insights and skills. Our school is passionate about incorporating free play and outdoor education into our curriculum, believing that these approaches foster creativity, problem-solving, and a deeper connection with nature. We are eager to explore collaborative initiatives that align with these educational philosophies and expand our students? horizons. Phenomenon-based learning is at the heart of our pedagogical approach. We have been implementing this method since 2017, integrating it across all levels of education, from kindergarten to primary school. Our teachers are highly trained in phenomenon-based learning, ensuring that our students receive a holistic and engaging educational experience. We are particularly interested in partnering with organizations that share our commitment to innovative and child-centered education. Joint projects that focus on free play, outdoor education, and phenomenon-based learning would be particularly impactful.
