The School Discoveries has been established in 2020 by a catholic family looking for a safe surrounding for children to learn and grow. Today the school is attended by 60 children (11 to 15 years old). 20 teachers work here. It is based on the concept of the Catholic educational system and a concept of a Good school (official LT Government documents). There has been a great improvement for children who found it hard to adjust to traditional schools and had learning difficulties (autism, dyslexia, ADHD and others) and special educational needs. The students have personal mentors, a very individual learning plan and an individual approach to them. They are not pressured into achieving goals based on the same expectations for everyone, rather they are encouraged to find their own pace, motivation, and ways of learning. That way students get to find what really makes them interested and what are the best ways of learning for them. The students are also invited to get involved in volunteering for homeless shelters, helping people in need, visiting the seniors, disabled, and others. Even though the school is non-governmental and has an attendance fee, it is open to everyone, and the pay is discussed with each family individually. At the moment 38 out of 64 students are studying while not paying the full fee.

As we are a formal education school, aiming to find innovative ways into children education, we have run several projects. All of them were implemented during the everyday learning, without outside funding. If talking about young people, only the School "Discoveries" children were involved, but several projects involved also other institutions and people. E.g. students have created history educational activities on Medevial Ages, I World War for other groups of children, they created and coordinated Brainstorms in Homeless people and Elderly day centres. This would be our first international project.
